4. Creating an economic ecosystem
NASA is betting not only on science, but also on the commercial development of the Moon. Private companies are already participating in the creation of modules, robots, and lunar rovers. In the future, the following are possible:

lunar logistics and construction.
In other words, the Moon can become the base for the space economy of the future.
What will the lunar base look like?
The project is provisionally called Artemis Base Camp. It is expected to be located at the South Pole of the Moon, where there are permanent shadows with water ice and areas illuminated by the Sun almost all year round — ideal conditions for solar energy and cooling.
The base will consist of:
a residential module for astronauts (for a 30-60 day stay);
mobile lunar rovers;
power plants;
communication stations and scientific modules.
In the future, it is planned to install autonomous maintenance systems, robots, and even 3D printers capable of using lunar soil to print building structures.
Problems and challenges
Despite the ambitions, the task is extremely difficult. The main difficulties:
radiation — the Moon has no atmosphere to protect against solar storms and cosmic radiation;
extreme temperatures — from -170°C to +120°C;
cargo delivery — each ton costs millions of dollars;
technical risks — system failure, lack of oxygen, equipment overheating.
But that is precisely why a base on the Moon is not just a scientific curiosity, but a necessary step on the way to the stars.
